Mission/aim:

The Central Asian Free Exchange (CAFE) was incorporated in the USA in 1990 and established in Uzbekistan in 1991 in response to the emerging humanitarian needs created by the collapse of the Soviet Union. CAFE is a development organization with over 80 expatriate volunteers and 350 national staff. Development programs are implemented at the regional level through 10 semi-autonomous regional offices (Andijan, Fergana, Karshi, Kokhand, Namangan, Navoii, Nukus, Samarqand and Tashkent, Uzbekistan; and Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan). Each office has established its own programs and projects as determined by local needs and environmental realities.
